Lombardia Little League (Milan, Italy) manager Dante DiLauro led his undefeated girl's softball team to a 5-0 record in the 2019 Europe-Africa Little League Softball World Series (LLSBWS) Qualifier in the Netherlands prior to embarking to the LLSBWS in Portland, Oregon. In the 2019 LLSBWS Europe-Africa Qualifier Final, the Italians defeated the Czech Republic 14-1.
The Lombardia Little League Softball All-Stars Alessandra Biffi, Caterina Binetti, Eleonora Casena, Erika DeBellis, Chiara DiLauro, Cristina Fenici, Ludovica Garavello, Sveva Mariotti, Giulia Orini, Lucia Polini, Ceciia Rovaslo, Emma Silvia, Carlotta Villa, and Matilde Del Col Balletio battled against Hawaii in the LLSBWS Quarterfinals on August 12, 2019. The USA West Region Champion from Honolulu Little League was previously undefeated before the first pitch was thrown. In the end, the underdog team from northern Italy eliminated Hawaii and advanced to the LLSBWS Semifinals. Relive the magic in the game below. Forza #Italia!
