All the emotions of the Gala dei Diamanti

The 2015 Gala dei Diamanti turned out to be yet another spectacular event last week in Rome, Italy at the Parco della Musica

The 2015 Gala dei Diamanti turned out to be yet another spectacular event last week in Rome, Italy at the Parco della Musica. An event that was full of emotions as it set out to recap the 2015 season as a whole. 

The afternoon got underway with a spectacular performance that was offered up by the pianist, Davide Locatelli, as he was able set the level of emotions with his heart felt playing of the Italian  national anthem. From there the focused moved onto the official the official retirement of the Italian National Team jersey, 33, in memory of Giulo Glorioso (who passed away in 2015)… meaning no other Italian National Team member will ever wear the number again.

The 2015 Italian Baseball League individual awards: 

-MVP: Peppe Mazzanti

-Best Italian Pitcher: Riccardo De Santis

-Best Italian Bat: Enrico Retrosi

-Top prospect: Andrea Sellaroli

The 2015 Italian Softball League individual awards:

-MVP: Ilaria Cacciamani

-Best Italian Pitcher: Greta Cecchetti

-Best Italian Bat: Ilaria Pino

-Top prospect: Serena Boniardi

On the afternoon, FIBS also recognised the 2015 international accomplishments of the Italian National Softball Under 15 and Seniors… winners of 2 gold medals at this year’s European Championships, followed by the recognition of the Under 18 National Baseball Team for the gold medal performance at the European Baseball Championship. 

Those making it into the Hall of Fame in 2015 include the likes of Claudia Petracchi and Roberto De Franceschi (athletes), as well as two others, Alberto De Carolis and Rimini’s storied owner, Cesare Rino Zangheri.

The awards mentioned above, as well as many more, made the day a special one, essentially raising the bar for the years to follow in the Italian Baseball Softball Federation.
