UnipolSai Bologna and T&A San Marino win their makeup games on Sunday afternoon on their home fields

UnipolSai Bologna and T&A San Marino win their makeup games on Sunday afternoon on their home fields. The win by Bologna puts two games between them and both San Marino and Rimini with 9 games to go, while San Marino’s win pulls them into a tie with the Rimini Pirates (with the tie break currently in their favor) at a 5 and 4 mark.

UnipolSai Bologna scored early and often off of Pete Parisi (Rimini starter) on Sunday afternoon in Bologna. With a solo shot in the 1st off the bat of Liverziani, another in the 2nd off the bat of Sambucci and a back breaking 3 run shot off the bat of Suarez in the 3rd that was then followed up by a double off the bat of Vaglio and a single off the bat of Rodriguez put the score at its would be final of 6 to 1. The 3 home runs given up on Sunday marked 5 total long balls that that Parisi has given up over his first three games pitched in the Italian Baseball League… With the scoring set at 6 to 1, the southpaw, Escolona came on for a strong 4 innings of relief out of the pen where he was brilliant in allowing just a single hit over his four innings of relief, however on the other side of the ball for Bologna, Rivero was just too strong for Rimini’s bats as he picked up the win with his 7 strong inning of work where he allowed just a single run off of 4 total hits and a walk.

T&A San Marino pulled even with the Rimini Pirates in the round robin semifinals round after they were able to get past Tommasin Padova on Sunday afternoon in San Marino by the final of 4 to 1. Picking up the win for San Marino was Berg (win) who tossed up 5.1 innings of one run ball before handing the the ball off to his pen of Teran and Cubilan (save). Padova got on the board first in this one with a run in the top of inning number three when Epifano came around to score on an Alvarez single. However, in the bottom half of that very same frame, T&A San Marino struck back for 3 runs off of 4 hits and a walk to put them in the lead, 3 to 1. T&A tacked on another run in the 7th on a sac fly off the bat of Mazzuca that plated Santora for the 4 to 1 advantage. In the top of the 9th Cubilan was able to close the game out for the win, officially ending any chances that Padova has at making it to the the Italian Baseball Series.
