Bologna continues their march towards the finals, while Rimini just gets by Parma

Bologna gets past T&A San Marino on Thursday evening thanks to brilliant performances Williamson and Rivero. Rimini does the same in Parma over Lino’s Coffee Parma by the final of 8 to 7, as they were able to just barely hold on for the victory in the bottom of the 9th.

Game one of the three game series between T&A San Marino and UnipolSai Bologna ended up go to Bologna on Thursday evening with a final score of 2-0.  The win was a big one for Bologna as it now puts them two games up on San Marino in the standings all while keeping a games distance from the Rimini Pirates who won their game one as well against Lino’s Coffee Parma. The win was picked up by a brilliant Williamson who went six strong innings on the bump, allowing only four total hits, a single walk and struck out nine. Rivero came on in the 7th for the three inning save, picking up five K’s in the process. Bologna’s runs came in the first off of an RBI double by Liverziani, and in the 8th when Infante drove in D’Amico from third. This three game set will continue tonight in Bologna at 9:00 pm local time.

In Parma it was the Rimini Pirates that picked up the win in game one of their three game set against Lino’s Coffee Parma on Thursday evening by the final of 8 to 7. Picking up the win out of the pen with 2 innings of work was Enorbel Marquez, who came on in relief of Ekstrom (6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO). Parma went up on top first in this one when they were able to cross one after Desimoni tripled to center which was then followed up by a RBI round out off the bat of Benetti. In the 3rd Rimini broke onto the scoreboard with a big three runs off of Sanchez on three hits, of which included a two RBI single off the bat of Spinelli. In the bottom half of the same inning Parma pulled to within one on an RBI double to left center by Marval, and then in the bottom of the 7th they were able to tie the game up at 3-all on a throwing error that allowed Imperiali to cross the plate. In the 8th things got a little out of hand for Parma as Toledo allowed an alarming five runs off of three hits and an error which put the game at 8 to 3 in favor of the Pirates. In the bottom of the 9th Lino’s Coffee made things a little interesting with four runs of their own, however with the bases juiced and two outs, Patrone (save) was able to induce Imperiali to fly out to right to end the game. The series will continue this tonight in Rimini at 9:00 pm local time.
