Bologna, San Marino and Nettuno2 sweep, Godo over Rimini

UnipolSai Bologna finished off their regular season with a 9 to 7 come from behind victory over Nettuno on Saturday evening

UnipolSai Bologna finished off their regular season with a 9 to 7 come from behind victory over Nettuno on Saturday evening. The win marked their 15th consecutive victory, as they were able to finish off the second half of the regular season undefeated. Picking up the win out of the pen with 2 scoreless innings of work was Filippo Crepaldi, while it was Mauro Salciccia that suffered the loss for Nettuno. The game looked to be in the hands of Nettuno after Paul Estrada was able to hold Bologna’s offense in check through the first five, however in the 6th off of Jhonny Montoya Bologna was able to break of for 3 runs… followed up by another 4 in the 7th to tie the game at 7 all. In the 8th Bologna took the 2 run lead off of Salciccia, while on the defensive side of the ball it was Crepaldi that held Nettuno in check. Bologna will now begin their preparations for the playoffs, while Nettuno will be moving onto the Italian Cup.

Down in Rome, Nettuno2 was able to pick up the two game sweep of Tommasin Padova thanks to a huge 8th and 9th innings that saw Nettuno2’s offense break out for 3 in the 8th and 4 in the 9th for the walk off win. The win was awarded to Valerio Simone who pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless ball out of the pen for Nettuno2, while on the other side of the ball it was Carlos Quevedo who suffered the loss after giving up 4 runs in just .1 innings of work. Even with the loss, Padova is will begin preparations for the postseason, while Nettuno2 will look to put on a good show in the Italian Cup. 

T&A San Marino had no problems disposing of Parma on Saturday evening as their mound of Pizziconi, Ercolani, D’Amico and Oberto combined for the no-hitter in a game that finished 8 to 1. San Marino needed just one inning in this one to put Param under, as they were able to break out for 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st off of southpaw, Yomel Rivera. At the plate for San Marino it was the 1 through 4 in the lineup, including Ermini in the 7 hole that led the way, all picking up two hits apiece on the evening. Picking up the win for San Marino was D’Amico, while it was Rivera who suffered the loss. San Marino will now prepare for the postseason, while Parma will be moving onto the Italian Cup. 

The Godo Knights finished their regalar season off on a winning note with a 1-0 victory over the Rimini Pirates on Saturday evening. The win was picked up by Bassani out of the pen. The game’s only run came in the top of the 9th after Gomez reached third on a single and a miscue in the outfield by Macaluso. He later came around to score on a fielders choice off the bat of Rubboli, as Rimini wasn't able to turn the double play ball. Rimini will now begin their preparations for the postseason, while the Knights for the Italian Cup.
