Both UnipolSai and the Pirates take two of three

Fortitudo Bologna won game two of their three game set on Saturday afternoon in Bologna over T&A San Marino by the final of 14 to 7. Bologna fell behind in the 1st after Panerati allowed a total of 5 runs. Bologna began to chip away at the lead little by little beginning in the bottom of that very same inning, and with the score sitting at 7 to 3 in the bottom of the 7th Bologna offense picked up a huge 7 runs in the inning to take the 10 to 7 lead. In the bottom of the 8th Bologna put the game completely out of reach with 4 more runs off of 4 hits, and a walk. Three homeruns were hit in this game, one by T&A’s Vasquez and one each by Bologna’s Rodriguez and Vaglio. Picking up the win out of the pen was Riccardo De Santis who pitched 6.1 innings of relief.

In the second Saturday game in Bologna between UnipolSai Bologna and T&A San Marino it was T&A that got the better of Bologna this time with a come from behind victory of their own. After falling behind four to nothing following just two innings of play, San Marino was able to cross two runs in the top of the 4th thanks to a two run homer off the bat Imperiali. In the 5th T&A tied the game up at 4-all on two RBI singles off the bats of Ramos and Mazzuca. In the 7th San Marino tacked on 3 more runs to take the 7 to 4 lead on a 2 RBI single off the bat of Reginato, which ended up clearing the bases on a error in center by Ambrosino. Teran picked up the win, while Cubilan came on for the 1 inning save.

In Rimini the Pirates were able to hang onto the 5-4 victory against Lino’s Coffee Parma. The win gave the Rimini Pirates the series win at two game to one, which means that they were able to pick up a game and now sit tied with T&A San Marino for that second spot, and just one behind Bologna. Picking up the win for the Pirates was Cherubini, while Sandy Patrone came on for the save in his first outing after returning form the DL. With the loss Parma’s hopes at a finals bit are quickly fading away heading into the 2014 All Star break with only 9 games left on the schedule.
