In the top of the first inning, Team Italy White starting pitcher Enrico
Zanchi surrendered a leadoff single to Francesco Barbieri. The
speedy outfielder stole second base and scored ensuing throwing errors.
In the bottom of the first inning, Team Italy Blue starting
pitcher Riccardo Nepoti walked Cesar Franco. Back-to-back singles
by Lorenzo Morresi and Peter Bocchino tied the game 1-1.
In the top of the second inning, Team Italy Blue slugger
Samuele Bruno hit an infield single off starter Enrico Zanchi, stole
second base, advanced to third on a fielder’s choice but was left stranded on
base without scoring.
In the bottom of the second inning, Riccardo Nepoti fought
back after giving up a single to Vince Cimini with three consecutive
strikeouts.
In the top of the third inning, Alessandro Laise was hit by
a pitch by Team Italy White reliever Vincenzo Bruno. However, he
was caught stealing after an accurate throw to second base by catcher Jose
Fernandez.
Team Italy Blue reliever Luke Giusto pitched a scoreless bottom of the third inning but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth inning when Team Italy White took the 2-1 lead. Peter Bocchino singled, advanced to second base on a balk and crossed the plate on an RBI double by Vince Cimini. Team Italy White reliever Matteo Marelli pitched two scoreless innings, while Team Italy Blue reliever Federico Virgadaula matched him.
Reliever Mattia Bernardis closed out the game for both teams in the seventh inning.
