In preparation for the U18 European Baseball Championship in Regensburg, Germany from July 8-14, 2024, the Team Italy U18 baseball squad defeated Comcor Modena 5-1 in an exhibition game. Azzurri U18 manager Guglielmo Trinci is expected to release his final Euro roster prior to the Verona workout on Saturday, June 29, 2024. He will be assisted by coaches Alessandro Fanfoni and Claudio Corradi, bench coach Gianmario Costa, pitching coach Gianluca Poli and delegation manager Simone Zanobi.
Italian U18 skipper Guglielmo Trinci said, “I am very happy with the work we have done in recent weeks as we have carried out intense training and interesting exhibition games. Until recently, we had never managed to win and this is certainly a positive sign. In nine days we will meet in Verona to begin the final phase. On July 1st we will leave for Germany, where a quality pre-European tournament awaits us."
In the next few hours, the U18 manager will release the list of twenty players who will represent Team Italy in Regensburg. Guglielmo Trinci commented, “Now I have in mind the twenty boys called up. Against Godo we played very well and against Modena we achieved a victory that certainly boosts morale. I was able to make some defensive adjustments and then everything went fine.”
Guglielmo Trinci concluded, “I would like to thank and praise all the clubs that hosted us, who made their facilities available to us and collaborated with us to make it a success. The kids felt at home and I'm happy that the whole movement worked as a team: thanks therefore to Arezzo, Collecchio, Parma Baseball, Bbc and Bsc Grosseto, Modena, Verona and Godo. You were priceless."
