FIBS officially retires number 30 jersey in honor of the late and great Bill Holmberg

Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) President Andrea Marcon and the newly-elected Federal Council unanimously moved to retire Italian national baseball jersey number 30 on November 16, 2020 in memory of the legendary Bill Holmberg, who chose the number at the time of his appointment as Team Italy baseball coordinator last year

Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) President Andrea Marcon and the newly-elected Federal Council unanimously moved to retire Italian national baseball jersey number 30 on November 16, 2020 in memory of the legendary Bill Holmberg, who chose the number at the time of his appointment as Team Italy baseball coordinator last year. It is believed Bill Holmberg selected the number 30 as a symbolic gesture to the closeness and special bond he shared with Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza, who was presented his number 31 Team Italy jersey during a press conference announcing him as the new national baseball team manager at the Italian Olympic Committee headquarters in Rome on November 29, 2019. Forza #Italia!
