The Italian Softball Series kicks off with a livestream direct from Ospiate di Bollate with a Serie A1 Softball Championship doubleheader of Game 1 and 2 between host MKF Bollate and Inox Team Saronno on Sunday, October 4, 2020 beginning at 5 am (EDT). To gain a better acquainted with the two top Italian softball squads, let's look at some of the players to watch on offense and on the mound.

BOLLATE OFFENSE: During the regular season MKF Bollate slugger Marta Gasparotto led in Italian Softball League in hits (37), runs scored (32), and stolen bases (15). She was second in batting average (.507), doubles (7), and home runs (4), as well as fourth-best in slugging percentage (.795 ) and on-base-percentage (.558). Tied for second with four home runs, Elisa Cecchetti was also second in triples (4). She ranked third in runs scored (22) and slugging percentage (.836) and fourth in walks (14) and hits (30). Amanda Fama was the 2020 leader in walks (21) and second in on-base percentage (.633), while sporting a respectable .360 batting average. Lara Cecchetti was fifth-best in RBI (18) and posted a .304 batting average.

BOLLATE PITCHING: Since returning from injury, Greta Cecchetti is 2-1 with four saves and 36 strikouts in 22 innings pitched. Laura Bigatton was the league co-leader in wins (10), second in saves (1), and third in ERA (1.80) and strikeouts (74). Sara Riboldi was a Bollate staff workhorse with 11 starts (4-2, 3.50 ERA).

SARONNO OFFENSE: Alessandra Rotondo ranked second in stolen bases (10), third in hits (31) and batting average (.492), and fourth in RBI (19). Andrea Filler placed second in slugging percentage (.857) and fifth in batting average (.464). Sarah Edwards was second in walks (19), third in on-base percentage (.623), and third in doubles (6). Inox Team Saronno spark plug Laura Vigna ranked fifth in on-base percentage (.551), while boasting a healthy .429 batting average.

SARONNO PITCHING: Alice Nicolini was the Italian Softball League leader in wins (10) and ERA (0.52) and ranked fourth in strikeouts (72). Teammate Veronica Comar was third-best in wins (6) and fifth in ERA (2.23). Chiara Rusconi (0-0, 3.50 ERA) made three brief appearances and notched four strikeouts in two innings pitched.
