Team Italy completes training in Friuli-Venezia Giulia before embarking for U15 European Softball Championship
The Team Italy U15 softball squad have finished workouts on the Buttrio diamond and have departed for the Euros in Prague, Czech Republic
Team Italy is ready for the U15 European Softball Championship in Prague, Czech Republic from July 1-6, 2024. Prior to the international competition, the young and talented Italians will play an exhibition game against the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Team Italy U15 manager Maristella Perizzolo said, “In recent days we have worked on technique, both in terms of defense and batting, aimed at uniting the team. We simply put together what was the path we followed throughout the year. We leave Friuli-Venezia Giulia with good feelings because we saw that the girls have worked very hard all year since this winter and what we have to do now is connect the dots, play as a team.”
On Thursday, June 27, 2024 the U15 softball squad had the opportunity to train together with the National Elite team in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Team Italy is making final preparations for the Women’s Softball World Cup Finals in Castions di Strada. from July 15-20, 2024.
Azzurrine manager Maristella Perizzolo commented, “The girls pointed out to us that the Elites were training nearby and they wanted to see them. Together with the Elites we had organized the surprise some time ago. We had a morning of joint training with them and the girls worked very hard. They undoubtedly learned a lot."
The U15 European Softball Championship features 13 national teams in three groups of three teams and one group of four. There will be two rounds with the top six teams from the prior Euro competition automatically qualifying for the final round.
Team Italy makes its Euro Group Y debut against Croatia on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 4.30 pm before facing Kingdom of the Netherlands on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 5 pm. The Italians will battle the top team in Group B (featuring Belgium, Great Britain, Israel and Turkey) on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 9:30 am.
Team Italy U15 manager Maristella Perizzolo said, “We will start working hard right away. We don't have easy games and we will approach them in an important way from the first to the last. We have a well-balanced team. We have good qualities within the team. There are fast players, 'slappers', power hitters. They are all hard workers and each of them complements the other."
