Italian club baseball and softball schedules now online

Baseball and softball gets underway in Italy this summer with games tentatively scheduled to begin as early as June 13, 2020 pending approval from the Italian Ministry of Sport. Equipped with a contingency plan which would postpone action until July 12 and include playoffs sometime in late September or early October, Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) is concerned with the health and safety of players, coaches, umpires, staff, and fans first and foremost.

FIBS president Andrea Marcon has pledged to support an area hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic in Lombardy, Italy by celebrating the return of Serie B baseball in Codogno on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Prior to the scheduled 11 am first pitch between Codogno and Piacenza, an official FIBS ceremony officiated by the president will take place to commemorate the resumption of baseball activities and to pay tribute to all the lives lost to COVID-19. Andrea Marcon said, "I will be there with them, and I am convinced that even those who cannot be there physically will be there across diamonds throughout Italy. I hope we can confirm the June 14 date to celebrate this first step towards normalcy, but, whenever it is, I will be in Codogno when the season begins. I owe it to all those who have supported our movement despite the time lost in recent months. With all the determination and will to play ball, I dedicate this season to them." Forza #Italia!
