Italy tops Czechs for win in final game of Italian Baseball Week

Italy closed their preparation for the European Championships with a clear victory (9-1) over the Czech Republic

Italy closed their preparation for the European Championships with a clear victory (9-1) over the Czech Republic.  The Czech's however were still the champions of the seventh edition of the tournament thanks to two previous wins against Spain and a win in their first matchup with Italy.

Mazzieri's team once again had the good defense and pitching that has characterized their performances all week, but finally added an outburst by the offense, scoring nine times on ten hits.

Italy took the lead in the second as Liddi scored on a Sabbatini single.  In the third inning they added two more after Desimoni and Poma walked and performed a double steal before both scoring on an Epifano single to center.  Poma would add a two run single, and Vaglio added a two run double in a five run seventh for Italy.  Escalona, Coveri, Crepaldi, and Florian all had scoreless performance before Vojak homered off of Oberto for the only Czech run in the final inning.
