Nettuno gets past Rimini in extras, Godo, San Marino and Bologna sweep

The Godo Knights needed just one big 4 run 4th inning off of Parma on Saturday evening to walk away with their third consecutive victory

The Godo Knights needed just one big 4 run 4th inning off of Parma on Saturday evening to walk away with their third consecutive victory. For the Knights it was once again Galeotti that earned the victory with a 6 inning 3 runs allowed performance where he allowed just 3 hits on the evening. On Parma’s side of the bat it was Yomel Rivera who suffered the loss. Closing off the game on the bump for Godo was Bassani with a scoreless 9th. The big blow in the game came in the 4th off the bat of Godo’s second baseman, Bucchi, with his 3 run shot off of the righty Spada. Godo improves to 6 and 9, while Parma drops to 4 and 12 on the season.

Nettuno was able to walk away with the split down in Rome on Saturday evening. The game was taken into the 11th where Nettuno’s shortstop, Ferrini proceeded to walk off the Pirates with a bases loaded, 3-2 single to right for the 7-6 win. Nettuno took a 4-0 lead in this one into the 8th when Rimini was able to come back and tie the matchup at 4-all. In the top of the 10th Rimini took a 6-4 lead that was matched by Nettuno in the bottom half of the frame, with the tying run coming in on a bases loaded hit by pitch with Coradini on the bump. In the top of the 12th Rimini was shut down by Salciccia, which set up the game’s decisive moment with Ferrini at the plate in the bottom of the frame. With the win Nettuno improves to 7 and 8, while Rimini drops to 11 and 5.

  

San Marino also walked away with the two game sweep of Nettuno2 on their home turf thanks to a 10 to 7 come from behind victory on Saturday evening. Picking up the win out of the pen was Junior Oberto, who came on in relief of Andrea Pizziconi who gave up 6 runs in 5.2 innings of work on the bump. The save was earned by Yovani D’Amico with a perfect 9th inning of work. The game was a back and forth battle, with San Marino pretty much earning the victory with a huge 5 run 6th inning off of Yuri Morellini. With the win San Marino earns their 4th consecutive victory and improved their record to a 10 and 6 mark, two and a half games up on Nettuno in the standings. Nettuno2 drops to 5 and 11 on the season, with any hopes of a playoff push fading fast.

In game one of the two game set between Fortitude Bologna and Tommasin Padova, in Padova it was Bologna that was able to walk away with the big 3 to 2 victory. The game was a tightly fought battle with Padova going on top early with a run in the 1st off of Flemming, however Bologna tied the game up and eventually took a 3 to 1 lead with runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th. In the 9th Padova made a push with a run of their own off of the always tough Raul Rivero, however Rivero was able to hold onto the lead, stranding 2 runners on the sacs for the save.

In game two of the two game set between Bologna and Padova in Bologna, it was Bologna that was able to come up with the 8 to 6 victory, pushing them ahead of Padova in the standings and in a tie at the top with the Rimini Pirates. Picking up the win for Bologna was Riccardo De Santis, who lasted 6 innings, giving up 4 runs off of 8 hits. Filippo Crepaldi earned the save, while on the other side of the diamond it was his brother, Enrico Crepaldi that suffered the loss in after a false start where he allowed 8 runs off of 10 hits in just 2 innings of work. 6 players had multi hit games (Infante, Ambrosino, Liverziani, Suarez, Sambucci, Sabbatani) for Bologna, while 3 had multipli RBI performances (Suarez, Sambucci, Russo) The win puts Bologna at 11 and 5 on the season and drops Padova to 10 and 6.
