Nettuno pushes to the top with a sweep of Parma

With three weekends left in the Italian Baseball League, the playoff field appears set, and the top four teams will play for seeding over the season's final stage without a true playoff race, thanks to a crushing sweep of historic rival Parma by the suddenly dominant Nettuno

With three weekends left in the Italian Baseball League, the playoff field appears set, and the top four teams will play for seeding over the season's final stage without a true playoff race, thanks to a crushing sweep of historic rival Parma by the suddenly dominant Nettuno.

Starting with an extra inning 2-1 walk off win in game one, and following it up with a second walk off win in game two, Nettuno scored twice in the 8th inning of game 3 to extinguish Parma's hopes and conclude one of the most exciting weekends of baseball between two teams who have played each other in countless championships.

Rimini sweated in two of their games against last place Novara, but completed the sweep to move into a first play tie with Bologna, who dropped one game to San Marino.  Nettuno now sits in third place, but just a single game behind the two leaders.  Meanwhile San Marino fell three games off the lead in the loss column, but still has a bye weekend coming up, along with two matchup against eliminated teams, while Bologna-Rimini, Bologna-Nettuno, and Nettuno-Rimini assure that there will be losses at the top, and the fourth place team today could easily move up the standings.

Meanwhile on the individual side, Marval, Poma, and Cedeno are all tightly bunched in the race for the batting championship, while Camacho has a slight edge on Zielinski in a two man race for the ERA crown.
