The Rimini Pirates got passed Lino’s Coffee Parma on Friday evening in Parma by the final of one to nothing. It was an intense pitchers dual between Mike Ekstrom for the Pirates and Jesus Yepez for Lino’s Coffee Parma, with the only run of the game coming in the top of the 8th when Romero drove in Leo Zileri with two outs on a single to left down 0 and 2 in the count. It was Yepez’s 125 pitch of the evening, but only the second hit he had given up all evening long. On the other side of the ball Mike Ekstrom went a strong 6.2 innings where he game up only 3 knocks, 2 walks and hit one. In the 7th with 2 outs, manager Chris Cantanoso went to Escalona, who ended up with the victory to his name, pitching 2.1 innings of no hit ball, allowing only a single base runner on a walk. Parma had a couple of opportunities, with their best chance coming in the 3rd when Scalera reached second on an error, which was then followed up by a one out single off the bat of Desimoni, however the inning came to a conclusion when Marval ground out to 3rd, stranding both runners on. The series will come to a conclusion this evening in Rimini with a start time of 9:00 pm.
