Rimini sweeps their way to the finals, while Bologna secured their spot winning 2 of 3

Carlos Richetti pulled off yet another huge performance, needing 120 pitches for the complete game, 2 to 1 victory which ended up putting the Rimini Pirates into the Italian Baseball League finals for the 4th consecutive year

Carlos Richetti pulled off yet another huge performance, needing 120 pitches for the complete game, 2 to 1 victory which ended up putting the Rimini Pirates into the Italian Baseball League finals for the 4th consecutive year. In the end it was Richetti (4 h, 1 r, 1 er, 3 bb, 5 so) that out dueled his counterpart, Berg (8 ip, 3 h, 2 r, 1 er, 7 so), for the 2 to 1 win. Rimini scored their first run in the game in the bottom half of the first after Romero worked the base on balls, which was then followed up by a double off the bat of Mazzanti on a ball that was misread by San Marino’s left fielder Vasquez for the 1-0 lead. In the top of the 4th, San Marino tied the game up at 1-all thanks to a lead off double off the bat of Duran, who then scored when the very next batter, Santora, banged a line drive single to right center. Rimini scored the would be game winning run in the bottom half of the 6th after Romero swiped 2nd, advanced to third on a miscue by Albanese (catcher) who threw the ball to center, and later came around to score on a wild pitch with a 2 strike count on Mazzanti. In the top of the 9th on his 120th pitch of the evening, Richetti was able to induce the ground ball off the bat of Vasquez for the win and the ticket to the the 2015 Italian Baseball Series.

     

UnipolSai Bologna won their 3 game set with Tommasin Padova, as well as punched their ticket to the finals thanks to the 4 to 1 victor that was pulled off with Raul Rivero on the bump. Bologna scored 1 in the bottom of the 4th and then 3 more in the bottom the 5th for the 4-0 advantage, with the runs coming off of the losing pitcher, Lopez, and his relief, Calero. Picking up the win for Bologna was Rivero, while it was Cova who came on for the 1 inning save. At the plate for Bologna it was Ambrosino (3 for 4, 1 run scored) and Suarez (2 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI) who led the way with their multi-hit performances.
