Shutouts for Bologna and Rimini. Padova and Nettuno take their respective games in extras

The Rimini Pirates took down Parma on Friday evening in Parma thanks to a perfect performance by Candelario through 6 (no runs, no hits, no walks and no errors committed by the defense), Escalona's two innings of no hit ball (just 2 walks allowed) and Moreono’s perfect 9th inning

The Rimini Pirates took down Parma on Friday evening in Parma thanks to a perfect performance by Candelario through 6 (no runs, no hits, no walks and no errors committed by the defense), Escalona's two innings of no hit ball (just 2 walks allowed) and Moreono’s perfect 9th inning. This trio not only didn't allow a single hit on the evening, they also combined to strikeout 15 of 27 batters faced. Rimini picked up a run in the 3rd and 4th, and topped off their scoring with 2 more in the 8th, with Desimoni and Mazzanti being credited for the two RBI’s scored on the game, while the other runs scored on an error in the 4th and a wild pitch in the 8th. The winning pitcher was Candelario, while the loss was suffered by the southpaw, Jimenez. This series will conclude tonight in Rimini at 8:30 pm.

Tommasin Padova got past San Marino in game one of two in San Marino on Friday evening by the final of 2 to 1. The game was taken in the 10th when Alvarez singled to the shortstop, allowing Pacini to score from third. Carlos Quevedo was very solid in his start for Padova, allowing just 3 hits on the evening through his six innings pitched (no decision). Picking up the win was Enrique Gonzalez, while it was Angel Calero that came on for the save in the 10th (1 hit, 3 strikeouts). Suffering the loss for San Marino was Figueroa. On a positive note for San Marino, Vasquez as 4 for 5 at the plate with 2 doubles to his name. This series will now shift up to Padova tonight with a start time of 8:30 pm. 

Nettuno was able to pick up some ground on a playoff spot after their extra inning win down in Rome against Angel Service Nettuno2 by the final of 6 to 4. Nettuno2 got off to the early lead in this one with 2 runs in the 5th and another 2 in the 6th, however Nettuno offense was able to tie the game up with a run in the 7th and a big three in the 8th. In the 11th it was a sac fly off the bat of Paoletti and an error that crossed the two runs for Nettuno in the win. The ‘W’ went to a superb Jhonny Montoya out of the pen (5 ip, 3 h, 0 r, 8 K’s), while the loss was suffered by Yuri Morellini. This two game set will pick up again tonight in Rome at 8:30 pm.

 

In Bologna it was the home UnipolSai that had no problems at all taking care of their counterparts, the Godo Knights. The trio of Fleming, Martinez and Rivero surrendered just 2 hits on the evening in the combined shutout, while the offense took care of the rest in the 5-0 victory. Bologna scored their runs in the 6th and 7th off of Uviedo, who was able to keep his club close for the first 5. The win was picked up by Fleming while the loss went to Uviedo. This two game series will come to a conclusion tonight in Godo with a game time of 8:30 pm.
