Team Italy baseball affected by U12 Euro cancellation and U18 Euro postponement

The executive board approved two changes to the European Baseball Championship calendar on April 13, 2020

The executive board approved two changes to the European Baseball Championship calendar on April 13, 2020. The U12 European Championship, which was scheduled from July 7-11, 2020 in Mortsel, Belgium, has been canceled. As a result, the 2021 U12 European Championship needs to take place sometime before the scheduled U12 World Championship in Tainan, Taiwan since the two top Euro teams qualify for the U12 World Cup competition.

The second CEB action affects the upcoming U18 European Baseball Championship in Macerata and Montegranaro, Italy, which was scheduled from July 13-19, 2020. The CEB has postponed the tournament to either the end of September or the beginning of October. When the CEB meets again in two weeks, the executive board will closely monitor the coronavirus pandemic and make decisions accordingly in regards to the U18 Euros as well as possible locations for the next U18 World Cup.

The CEB recently canceled all 2020 European club competitions, while the rescheduled the dates for the European Softball Championship in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy from July to September 20-26, 2020. The also postponed the U18 Women's Softball Word Cup, the U15 Baseball World Cup, and the Women's Baseball World Cup, all of which were originally scheduled to take place between August and early September.
