Olympic-bound Erika Piancastelli will depart Italy next week to begin her 14-day quarantine prior to joining the , which officially starts on August 30, 2020 at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Chicago, Illinois. The Team Italy softball captain is among the 56 elite players recruited to participate in the inaugural six-week, 30-game season.

Erika Piancastelli said, "I'm super excited to play for this league. It's the best of the best, and I think it will really help me grow as a player and push me to get to that next level. The league is all about the players and it will allow us to use our voice and grow the game as much as we can."

In fact, the is player driven as team members change on a weekly basis based on a scoring system which awards players and their team points for individual innings won, overall team wins, individual player stats, and MVP honors. Following the last game of each week, the top four-point individual scorers become team captains who draft new team players for the upcoming week. is scheduled to televise seven games in the U.S. and Canada, while plans on broadcasting 23 games across America.
