After picking up his first victory over Belgium on September 19, 2018 when he allowed just one run on three hits with four strikeouts after 5.1 innings of work in the Super 6, Angelo Palumbo pitched five scoreless innings to beat the Belgians again on September 11, 2019 in the European Baseball Championship by surrendering only two hits and striking out six batters.
The six-foot-three right-handed pitcher returned for this third Team Italy win in the on September 19, 2019 when he threw six innings and held the Czechs to one run on seven hits with two strikeouts. Angelo Palumbo also appeared out of the bullpen against the Kingdom of the Netherlands on September 21, 2019 and got both Dutch hitters he faced out easily.
Originally signed by the Baltimore Orioles as an international free agent in 2013, Angelo Palumbo spent four seasons in the Dominican Summer League affiliate and compiled a 3.55 ERA over the course of 58 games with 37 starts. He was dominant in eight appearances with seven starts during the winter season with Cardenales de Lara.
