Team Italy’s Arizona Spring Training winning streak continues with 7-2 victory over Paradise Valley Community College

Team Italy put together back-to-back wins with victories over Grand Canyon University on March 25 and Paradise Valley Community College on March 27 at Mesa’s Hohokam Stadium. After the dynamic pitching duo of Mattia Aldegheri and Alex Bassani worked in synergy to defeat the Grand Canyon University Antelopes by a score of 5 to 2, Azzurri manager Gilberto “Gibo” Gerali called on an arsenal of Team Italy pitchers to control the Paradise Valley Community College Pumas. Starting pitcher Alessandro Maestri and relievers Diego Fabiani, Yomel Rivera, and Filippo Crepaldi combined their efforts to beat Paradise Valley Communtiy College 7-2. Team Italy got on the board early in the first inning when Alessandro Vaglio scored on a sacrifice fly from Alex Sambucci. The Azzurri expanded the lead later when a two-run home run from Leo Zileri and a two-RBI double by Federico Celli put the game out of reach. Alessandro Deotto continued to impress offensively as did Mattia Mercuri and Sebastiano Poma. Team Italy closes out its Arizona Spring Training with exhibition games against Toros de Tijuana on March 28 and 29 at 1 pm. Forza #Italia! #LetsMakeItHappen
