The Italian Baseball Series moves to Rimini

The Italian Baseball Series will pickup again tonight in Rimini with the best of seven finals all tied up at one game apiece

The Italian Baseball Series will pickup again tonight in Rimini with the best of seven finals all tied up at one game apiece. Game one of the series in Bologna last Friday went to Rimini in extras, while game two was taken by Bologna. Game 3, 4 and 5 will now be played on Rimini’s home diamond on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each game is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 pm local time.

The Rimini Pirates will be coming into this weekend onto their home turf all tied up with UnipolSai Bologna after going one and one with them in Bologna last week. This weekend the Pirates will look to recuperate the backstop, Bertagnon, however their ace Ekstrom is still in question.. a question that could eventually decide the series. Going on the hill tonight for Rimini will be Enrique Gonzalez, while on Friday evening it looks to be Corradini. Game 5 on Saturday is still up in the air. On the other side of the diamond, Bologna will be going with Williamson in tonight’s game 3, which means that Rimini has their work cut out for them. In game one last week Williamson held the Pirates to just one run on four hits and a walk over 7.2 innings, a game that was eventually won by Rimini in extras after they tied the game up with a 4 run top of the 9th. The other two Bologna starters on Friday and Saturday have been named as Baez and Riccardo De Santis. Bologna is going to have to do without their normal center fielder, Ambrosino, who’s out with an ankle injury that he suffered in last Friday’s game when he went into the fence going after a home run ball. As for the rest of the lineup it will be business as usual, lead by the veteran Liverziani.
