The 2014 All Star Game kicked off with a couple of bombs to say the least down in Nettuno, Italy with the annual Mine Home Run Derby between three members of the Italian National Team and three from the 2014 IBL All Stars.

Swinging the bats for the All Star Team featured a three man lineup full of left handed sticks of which included the likes of Wuillans Vasquez of T&A San Marino, Claudio Liverziani of UnipolSai Bologna, and Osma Marval of Lino’s Coffee Parma. For Team Italy it was Paolino Ambrosino of UnipolSai Bologna, Alex Sambucci of Lino’s Coffee Parma, and Peppe Mazzanti from the Rimini Pirates.

The two finalists for this year’s event turned out to be Italy’s Peppe Mazzanti who got in to the finals with two long balls in the semis. Mazzanti faced off against Osman Marval of the All Star team after who picked up five in the semifinals round. With Mazzanti coming up with no homers in his round of swings in the finals, all Marval needed to do to walk away with the prize money and title was knock one out of the park, and that he did to be crowed this years long ball champ.
