The 2020 U15 Women's European Softball Championship serves as the qualifier of the first-ever WBSC U15 Women's World Cup in 2021. The two top Euro teams will be among 12 softball squads invited to compete in the 2021 international competition.

ESF president Gabriel Waage said, "When the ESF Board decided to postpone this event, the goal was to wait to make the health situation better. I believe these are the latest possible dates for a junior event to happen. ESF will guarantee the safety and well-being of everybody involved in the tournaments, this is why the Board will keep on tracking the development of coronavirus."

Acting on the side of caution, the ESF will closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and have until June 15 to confirm or modify the late August dates. In addition, all European National Softball Federations retain the right to revoke their participation in the tournament without incurring penalties until the mid-June deadline. The ESF recently announced the cancellation of all Euro Sotball Federation Cup competitions and the postponement of the Euro Women's Softball Championship, which is scheduled to take place from September 20-26, 2020 in Friuli Venezia-Giulia.
