Undefeated UnipolSai Bologna and Curaçao Neptunus clash in 2018 European Champions Cup

After defeating Draci Brno 4-1 in the Euro Champions Cup opener on June 6, 2018, UnipolSai Bologna (2-0) beat winless T&A San Marino (0-2) in a 12-4 rout during day two of the Euro Champions Cup on June 7, 2018 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Allowing three earned runs, Bologna starting pitcher Jorge Martinez threw six complete innings and fanned nine batters. Relievers Filippo Crepaldi, Justin Cicatello and Nick Pugliese each pitched one inning to shut the door on T&A San Marino. The Bologna offense was fueled by outfielders Lorenzo Dobboletta, who was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and went 4-for-5, and Alessandro Grimaudo, who had three hits, three RBI and scored twice. In the power department, Kevin Moesuit and Gilmer Lampe clubbed home runs for UnipolSai Bologna. T&A San Marino got production from three-hole hitter Lorenza Avagnina, who was responsible for bringing home three runs with his two singles. Outfielder Thomas De Wolf collected three hits, while infielders Jose Ferrini and Riccardo Babini each had two singles in the game against Bologna. With the win over T&A San Marino, UnipolSai Bologna now faces reigning Euro Cup Champion Curaçao Neptunus to determine the top-seed in Pool B of the European Champions Cup on June 8, 2018 at 1:30 pm (EST). A.S.D. Rimini (1-1) is in a four-way tie in Euro Champions Cup Pool A. Rimini won its first game 4-1 over Draci Brno, but lost a 3-1 heartbreaker to Germany’s Heidenheim Heidekoepfe on June 7, 2018. Rimini starter Alex Bassani and reliever Ricardo Hernandez limited the Germans to three runs; however, the A.S.D. Rimini offense failed to keep up. Rimini's only run came in the fourth inning when Alexander Romero singled, stole second and scored on Federico Celli's RBI double.
