UnipolSai Bologna improved their round robin semifinal record to 6 and 1 thanks to the suburb outing from their American righty Marquis Fleming who pitched past the 7th where he allowed no runs off of 7 hits, 2 walks… with 6 K’s to his name. Coming on for the 2 inning save was Cova, who was able to retire all 6 batters faced in his perfect 2 inning outing. With the win Bologna was able to tighten their grip on first by a full two games over Rimini and 3 games over the third place T&A San Marino who dropped their series open to Tommasin Padova on Thursday night at home. Rimini did out hit Bologna in this one 7 to 6, however it was a single run that was plated off the bat of Suarez (3 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 doubles) in the third off of Candelario that proved to be the difference maker in this one for Bologna. Game two of three will be played out tonight in Rimini with the game time scheduled for 9:00 pm.

Tommasin Padova walked away with their first win of the round robin semifinals round with a 4 hour and 40 minute 15 inning 8 to 6 victory over T&A San Marino on Thursday evening in San Marino. With the game finally coming to a conclusion at 1:40 am on Friday morning, it was Padova’s shortstop Epifano that was the game changer thanks to his 15th inning single that plated 2 runs for the eventual 8 to 6 final. The win was picked up by Calero with a very strong outing that saw him take the rubber for a full 5 innings of work in relief, where he allowed 2 runs off of 2 hits. The win now puts Padova at 1 and 6 in the semifinals, while dropping San Marino to 3 and 4. On a side note… the league veteran, Gary Ermini, picked up 1000 career hit in the Italian Baseball League.
