UnipolSai Bologna was able to get past Lino’s Coffee Parma in game one of their three game set on Thursday evening in Bologna by the final of 2 to 1, which means that they are only a single game away from an assured finals bid. In Rimini the Pirates lost Ekstrom early in a 13 to 7 loss suffered at the hands of T&A San Marino, which means only a single game separates these two powerhouses in the push to the Italian Baseball Series.

UnipolSai Bologna took game one of their three game set with Lino’s Coffee Parma by the final of 2 to 1 on Thursday evening in Bologna. Staying hot for Bologna was Liverziani, as he was able to drive in what would turn out to be the games winning run in the bottom of the 5th inning off of Parma’s Yepez on a single up the middle that plated Fuzzi. Picking up the win for Bologna was Williamson with his 7 innings of strong work on the bump, where he allowed just two hits and a single run in the top of the first. Raul Rivero came on for the save. Bologna’s win now puts them three full games up on Rimini, and four up on San Marino, as they now begin to think about home field advantage in the Italian Baseball Series.

San Marino got off on the right foot in Rimini for their push at a finals bid with a 13 to 7 win over their Pirates on Thursday evening. Each squad in this one went through a total of nine different pitchers, with Rimini going through five and San Marino four. Picking up the win out of the pen for T&A San Marino was Yovani D’Amico, while it was Ekstrom that suffered the loss for the Pirates, as he lasted just 0.2 innings on the hill before being removed for Enorbel Marquez, Del Bianco, Torres, and finally Biondi. San Marino now sits just one game back of Rimini for that second finals spot with just five games left on the schedule. These two clubs will meet up once again in Rimini tonight and tomorrow, with both games scheduled at 9:00 pm.
