Now with the first three weeks of the Italian Baseball League already in the books, look for week four to be the week were the top dogs do their best to begin to move away from the rest of the pack. On the weekend their will be four two game sets, Parma vs. Bologna, San Marino vs. Godo, Padova vs. Nettuno and finally Nettuno2 vs. Rimini.
Beginning with the home-away series between a very young Parma club and the heavily favored UnipolSai Bologna squad. On Parma’s side of the ball look for manager, Gilberto Gerali to hand the ball to Camacho in the foreign game and the lefty, Rivera in the Italian matchup. Behind the dish for Parma for the first time this year will be the young, but very talented Deotto, as he looks to have completely healed from the leg problems that he was suffering from during the first couple weeks of the season. On the other side of the ball, Nanni (manager) has confirmed Fleming and De Santis as the two staring pitchers on the weekend. Their batterymates should be Rodriguez in the foreign game and Sabbatani behind the dish with De Santis on the hill in the Italian matchup. Look for Bologna to put the pedal to the medal right off they bat, knowing that anything less then a sweep would be somewhat of a letdown. Game 1 is set for tonight in Parma at 8:00 pm and game two for 8:00 pm on Saturday in Bologna.
Tonight in San Marino, it will be the home T&A squad who will be taking on the Godo Knights in game one of two on the weekend. On San Marino’s side they are going to have to do it with one less arm in the foreign pitched game after the club released Romulo Sanchez this past week. In his place look for both Teran and Morreale to fill in the gap behind Rodney Rodriguez in they foreign game, while it will once again be Andrea Pizziconi who will be getting the ball in the Italian game. On the other side of the diamond look for Uviedo and Galeotti to try to lead the Knights to just their second win in their 2015 campaign. Game one is set to kick off at 8:30 pm in San Marino tonight, with game two to take place at 8:30 pm in Godo on Saturday.
In Padova the fans have a lot to look forward to thus far in 2015 as their club has come out of nowhere to lead the rest of the division with a 5 and 1 mark. Getting the call to head up a feisty Nettuno team in the foreign game will be a thus far very dominate Quevedo, while in the Italian game look for the southpaw, Enrico Crepaldi to continue his recent string of success. On Nettuno’s side of the diamond it’s going to be Estrada in the foreign game with either Salciccia or Ciarla to get to the nod in the Italian game. Both contests will be played in Padova on Friday and Saturday at 8:30 pm.
Finally, down in Rome it will be the home Nettuno2 team welcoming in the Rimini Pirates for a two game set on Friday and Saturday. Look for Nettuno2 to do anything possible to keep from falling any further behind in the race towards the second half of the season. Getting the call in the Italian game will be Milvio Andreozzi, while in the foreign matchup it will be the Cuban lefty, Gonzalez. On Rimini’s side of the ball look for Candelario to get the nod in the foreign game in hopes of building upon his success against San Marino a week ago, while in the Italian game it looks as its going to be a bullpen by committee with any one of the six Italian arms to get the start. Game one is set for this evening in Rome at 8:30 pm, as is game two on Saturday.
