Andrea Marcon is the new FIBS President

Andrea Marcon was elected the new President of the FIBS

Andrea Marcon was elected the new President of the FIBS. In a two candidate run off he received 6,165 votes to defeat current Vice President Massimo Fochi with 5,825 votes.

"I would like to first thank Alberto Antolini and Massimo Fochi, loyal adversaries in this period" said the new President. "I naturally thank all of you, and wish you good baseball and softball".

Born in Montreal in 1973, his family returned ot Italy when he was 8. He begin his connections as a scorekepper for softball, and then was an umpire from 1993 until 2010. From 2011 on he has been the director of umpires for the European Softball Federation.

He will be joined on the Federal Counsel by Totoni Sanna, Luigi Cerchio, Roberta Soldi, Marco Mannucci, Gigi Mignola, Lucio Silvetti, and Fabrizio De Robbio. Representing the players will be Daniela Castellani and Filippo Comelli. Alessandro Cappuccini will represent the coaches, and Savino Loardi will lead the Collegio dei Revisori dei Conti.

Marcon will replace Riccardo Fraccari who has guided Italian Baseball and Softball for sixteen years, and is currently the president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
