Fortitudo Bologna had no problem what so ever handling the likes of T&A San Marino and their foreign mound of Rodriguez and Figueroa on Sunday afternoon, as they broke out for total of 9 runs in the first two innings off of the pair, which was more then enough Bologna’s starter, Fleming, who ended up going 6 with a line that read: 6 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 5 K’s. On the offensive side of the ball Bologna broke out for 18 hits, with both Ambrosino and Vaglio picking up three apiece, while five other names in the lineup banged out two (Fuzzi, Liverziani, Rodriguez, Sambucci and Russo). San Marino’s only run in the ballgame came in the second on a solo shot off the bat of Mazzuca.

Fortitudo Bologna was able to walk away with the two game sweep on Sunday evening with the 5-3 victory on the back of a once again very strong pitching performance offered up by De Santis. Bologna got off to the 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th on some shaky ‘D’ offered up San Marino that allowed an unearned run to cross the plate with two outs in the inning on zero hits. San Marino’s starter, Pizziconi was able to match De Santis pitch for pitch up until 5th when Bologna’s offensive broke out for 4 runs off of 3 hits and 2 walks… once again with 2 outs in the inning.  In the 8th it was Crepaldi that come on to record the 5 out save to seal the victory for UnipolSai Bologna. The ‘W’ puts Bologna in 1st place all by them selves, a game up on Rimini the standings with a 13 and 5 record. The loss puts San Marino at a 10 and 8 mark, and in a tie in the loss column with Nettuno.

Rimini got past Padova with ease on Sunday afternoon in Rimini by the final of 8-0. Candelario picked up the win for Rimini thanks to his 5 innings of shutout ball on the bump before handing the ball off to the pair of Escolona and Moreno. The Rimini Pirates broke out for 19 hits in this one with Olmedo, Romero and Mazzanti all braking out for 3 hits apiece, while every other name in the starting lineup picked up at least one hit. Suffering the loss for Padova was the southpaw, Enrico Crepaldi, as he got banged around for 11 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings of work.

In the night cap it was Tommasin Padova that got the best of the Pirates by the final of 6 to 2 thanks to a dominant pitching performance offered up by Quevedo who out dueled his opponent, Richetti. The win allows Padova to keep pace in the standing, as they now sit a game up on San Marino and just a single game back of Rimini. At the dish it was the 1, 2 and 3 hitters that did most of the damage for Padova, with Martone, Epifano and Alvarez all picking up two hits in the ball game, all of which was topped off by Malengo’s huge 2 RBI triple in the 7th, which put the game out of reach. Next weekend Rimini will be locked up in a derby with San Marino, while Padova will take on Godo in a home-away two game set.
