Bologna punches their postseason ticket. Both Padova and San Marino keep pace.

UnipolSai Bologna secured a playoff spot thanks to a 5-1 win over the Rimini Pirates on Friday night, making it their 15th consecutive year of postseason play. The win was picked up by Fleming who tossed up a very 6 innings of work, allowing just 4 hits, 1 run (unearned), 1 walk while striking out 7. Coming on for the three inning save was Raul Rivero… 3 hits, no runs, 4 K’s. At the plate it was five different names that drove in a run apiece for Bologna (Infante, Suarez, Rodriguez, Vaglio and Sambucci), with the 2 runs coming in the 3rd and 3 in the 6th. This two game set will continue tonight in Rimini at 8:30 pm.

    

T&A San Marino picked up a huge 4 to 1 win over Nettuno on Friday night to give them slight one game advantage in the IBL standings with now just 5 games to play. The win went to Rodney Rodriguez, who went 7 strong innings of 4 hit, 1 run ball (unearned). Coming on for the 2 inning save was Cubillan. At the plate it was Santora that led the way with a 4 for 5 hit day, while Duran, Ramos and Avagnina all picked up two hits apiece. This two game series will conclude tonight in San Marino with a start time of 8:30 pm. 

    

Tommasin Padova crept by Parma in Parma on Friday evening with the 3 to 2 victory… This game didn’t go the distance, ending after just 6 innings of play due to a heavy downpour. The win allows Padova to keep pace in their postseason push, bringing them to within just a single game of the Rimini Pirates. Earning the victory for Padova was Quevedo, who went the full six innings of the game… giving up just two first inning runs. Padova went on to take the lead in the top of the 3rd on a 1 out, 2 RBI double off the bat of Epifano, and a wild pitch that plated Martone for the 3-2 lead and eventual win. This two game set will conclude tonight in Padova at 8:30 pm.

Down in Rome it was Nettuno2 that came out on top with the 2 to 1 win thanks to the very strong dual of Gonzalez (win) and Tabata (save). The win pulls Nettuno2 to within just a single game of Godo for the 6th place spot in the league with just 5 games to go… This two game set will conclude tonight in Rome with a game time of 8:30 pm.
