Italy bounced from the second round after a loss to the USA

The girls out of the USA didn’t let up when they took on Italy on Thursday afternoon at the World Softball Championship in Holland. The US took the matchup with an easy 7-0 win in the 5 inning shortened game. The combination of Traina and Nevins for the US were able to keep the Italians hitless on the game, allowing just a single base runner on a walk in the 4th with Traina on the mound. The US scored 2 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, ending the game with their seventh run of the game in the bottom of the 5th. Suffering the loss for Italy on the mound was Papucci, lasting just 2 innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) off of 9 hits. Finishing off the game for the Italians on the bump was Moretto with numbers that read: 2.2 innings pitched, 4 hits 1 run, 2 walks. Italy suffered once again with their defensive, committing 4 errors in the 5 inning long affair. The loss put the Italians out of the race for the championship and into the consolation round where they will first face off with Cuba. Italy finished their qualification round off at 3 and 4, suffering their heaviest loss to Chinese Taipei on Wednesday by the final of 1 to 0 in extra innings.
