UnipolSai Bologna took home an easy game one victory at home over the last place Parma club on Friday evening. The final in this one went by the score of 11 to 1 (7 inning run rule) with Fleming bringing home the win in his 5 inning outing, where he allowed no runs, and just two hits on the evening. Suffering the loss for Parma was Jimenez after he got banged around for 5 runs off of 7 hits in just 2.1 innings of work. Bologna picked up an impressive 16 hits on the night, while Parma was only able to muster together 2. Five names in Bologna’s lineup had multi hit performances, as Suarez lead the way with his 3 for 5, 1 run and 2 RBI evening. Bologna’s magic number for a second round bid now sits at 2. This series will continue tonight in Parma with an 8:30 start time.
The Godo Knights surprised T&A San Marino on Friday night in Godo with an impressive 10-2 victory on the back of Uviedo (Win, 6 ip, 6 hits, 0 runs, 4 K’s) and Ribeiro (Save, 3 ip, 2 hits, 2 runs, 4 K’s). Suffering the loss for San Marino was Rodney Rodriguez who went 5.1 on the bump, allowing just 2 runs and striking out 12. From the 6th inning on T&A’s bullpen imploded for 8 runs in the 10 to 2 loss, with Teran giving up 3 and Morreale giving up 5. The loss by T&A drops them one off the pace, a game back of both Nettuno and Padova in the standings. This two game set will conclude tonight in San Marino at 8:30 pm.
In game one of two down in Rome it was Nettuno that came out on top over Padova with an extra inning (11 innings) win that went by the final of 7 to 6. It was a strange game to say the least, as both teams foreign starters surrendered 5 runs each in their respective outings, with Quevedo lasting 5 for Padova, and Estrada going 7 for Nettuno. Picking up the win out of the pen for Nettuno was Jhonny Montoya, who tossed up 3.2 innings of 1 run ball… striking out 10 of the 17 batters he faced. For Padova, both Erick Epifano and Massimiliano Satori had three hit games, while Giuseppe Sciacca went 2 for 5 with a Grand Slam in top of the 3rd off of Estrada. On Nettuno’s side it was Retrosi and Imperiali that picked up 3 hits apiece, while Carlos Maldonado led the way in the RBI column with 4. This series will conclude tonight in Rome at 8:30 pm, as both clubs will be fighting to hold on to third place in the IBL standings.
In Rimini it was that home Pirates that had very little issues taking care of the visiting Angel Service Nettuno2 ball club thanks to 5 runs that were put up in the first five frames, which turned out to be more then enough for the trio of Candelaro (win), Escalona and Moreno in the 5-0 victory. The win keeps them just two games off the pace with Bologna for the top spot in the league as they inch closer and closer to a playoff birth. At the dish it was the 4 and 5 hole hitters that lead the way in the hits column, as both Mazzanti and Zileri banged out two apiece. This two game series will conclude tonight in Rimini at 8:30 pm.
