Orlando Munoz named as Rimini’s new manager

The era of Chris Catanoso has officially come to an end in Rimini with the announcement of Orlando Munoz as the clubs new manager for the 2015 IBL season

The era of Chris Catanoso has officially come to an end in Rimini with the announcement of Orlando Munoz as the clubs new manager for the 2015 IBL season. Munoz comes from a rich background of experience in Venezuela, in the US where he reached as high as AAA with the California Angles, as well has here in Italy where he played out 10 seasons with Modena and 5 with Parma, accumulating 753 appearances, 997 hits and a .355 lifetime batting average. Munoz was also named the MVP of the Italian Baseball League in 2002 and 2010, as well as won 6 Gold Gloves, 3 as a shortstop, 1 as a second baseman and 3 at the third base bag. 

In 2012 Munoz hung up his cleats to become Parma’s hitting coach, while the very next year he took over the head coaching job for the following two season, posting a 40 and 36 record.

Currently Munoz is in Venezuela as the acting hitting-coach for the Aguilas de Zulia.
