Padova sweeps the legs of Bologna, Rimini gets past San Marino in a close one

UnipolSai Bologna, needing just two games for a secured finals bid, let game one of three against Tommasin Padova fall by the waste side after they dropped the match by the alarming score of 9-0. Picking up the win for Padova was Carlos Quevedo, who tossed up an impressive 6 innings of 5 hit shutout ball before handing the ball off to Enrique Gonzalez who was able to earn the save with his 3 innings of 1 hit, 2 walk 0 runs ball. On Bologna’s side of the ball it was Marquis Fleming that fell for the second consecutive weekend after he game up Bologna’s first 3 runs of the game, 1 of which was earned. The real back breaker for for Bologna came in the the 6th when Salomon Marinez came on in relief and proceeded to allow 6 runs to cross over his 3 innings of work on the bump. At the plate for Padova it was the trio of Epifano (3 for 5 with 1 run, 1 RBI), Sciacca (2 for 4 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs) and Medoro (2 for 4 with 2 RBIs) who led the way in the 9-0 victory… This three game set will continue tonight in Padova at 9:00 pm. 

    

In Rimini it was the home Pirates who were able to just get past T&A San Marino by the final of 6 to 5 on Thursday evening. Picking up the win for Rimini was Candelario, who tossed up a very impressive 7 innings of 4 hit, 2 run (1 earned) ball. On the offensive side of the ball the Pirates were led by the trio of Zileri (2 for 4, 1 run, 2 RBI), Bertagnon (1 for 3, 2 RBI) and Macaluso (2 for 3, 2 RBI). San Marino made a game of this one in the later half… with T&A being able to cross 5 runs between the 7th and 8th, while in the 9th with two outs in the frame and Moreno on the bump for the Pirates, on an 0-2 count Imperiali sent a ball that just about cleared the left field fence for the 6-all tie… however the ball did just stay in the ballpark with Cit being able to make the catch for the third out with his back to the wall. Game 2 of 3 will take place tonight in San Marino, with the game time set for 9:00 pm.
