Rimini got past Parma once again on Saturday evening by the final of 5-0, completing the two game sweep and taking complete control of the top spot in the Italian Baseball League, a full game up on Bologna. Rimini took the early lead in this one thanks to a solo shot in the 2nd off the bat of Romero… just the beginning of the five runs that were scored between the 2nd and 3rd frames. On the bump Bertolini got things started for the Pirates with a sold four innings pitched before giving the ball up to Corradini, Cherubini, Del Bianco and finally Biondi. On the evening Parma accumulated just four hits in the box. With the win Rimini moves to 9 and 3 while Parma drops to 4 and 8.

Tommasin Padova walked away with a huge sweep over T&A San Marino on Saturday evening in Padova thanks to 12 inning walkoff single off the bat of Carlo Sguassero. It was San Marino that held the 6-2 advantage heading into the 6th, however in the 7th it was Padova’s offense that came alive, tying the game up at 6-all. The score would stay tied all the way to the 12th when with the basses loaded and 2 outs it was Sguassero that delivered the walk off hit against Ercolani. Picking up the win for Padova was Michele Meschini with his three innings of scoreless ball out of the pen. The win puts Padova ahead of T&A in the standings by a full two games at 8 and 4 while San Marino has Nettuno on their tail at 6 and 6, just a half game up in the standings.

Down in Rome it was Nettuno2’s turn in the city rival over Nettuno thanks to a 9th inning come from behind win that included 6 runs scored in the 9th and a walk off run in the 10th for the 7 to 8 victory. The loss is a hard one for Nettuno to swallow, especially seeing as if the ‘W’ could have put them a half a game ahead of San Marino for the 4th spot in the league. Nettuno’s record now sits at 5 and 6, while the win by Nettuno2 puts them at 4 and 8 on the season.

In Godo, the Knights surprised UnipolSai Bologna with the 2 to 1 win on Saturday evening. The win was picked up by Alex Bassani out of the pen who needed just .1 innings pitched for the ‘W’ in the box score. Godo picked up the first run of the game in the 4th on a RBI single to the shortstop that plated Sanchez from third. In the top of the 7th Bologna was able to tie the game up at 1-1 thanks to a solo shot off the bat of Vaglio. In the 10th the game ended on a 3-2 walk off walk to Gomez, plating Servidei from third. The loss was suffered by Filippo Crepaldi, and put Bologna at an 8 and 4 mark on the season, a full game back of Rimini in the standings.
