San Marino breaks Bologna’s 19 game win streak, Rimini 2 for 2 over Padova

T&A San Marino got past UnipolSai Bologna on Friday evening in San Marino with the extra inning 3 to 2 victory. The loss by Bologna marked the first time that they have dropped a game over their last 20 contests (19-1). Getting the start for Bologna was Riccardo De Santis, who pitched into the 7th… giving up just 1 run off of 3 hits and a walk while striking out 6. De Santis was countered by Justin Berg for San Marino who also threw up a gem with his 6.1 innings of work where he allowed 1 run off of 4 hits all while striking out 8. San Marino got on the board first in this one with a run in the bottom of the 2nd when Chiarini came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Imperiali. Bologna tied the game up at 1-all in the top of inning number 4 on an RBI single off the bat of Liverziani after Infante had reached on a single and later swiped second. In the top of the 8th Bologna took the 1 run lead off of Carlos Teran on a sac fly off the bay to Suarez that plated Fuzzi from 3rd. In the 9th San Marino was able to tie up the game up on an unearned run with Santora coming around to score on a groundout to second off the bat of Chiarini. In the bottom of inning number 10 with Filippo Crepaldi (blown save and loss) and the basses juiced… it was Mazzuca that was able to work the walk that allowed Albanese to score from third with just one out in the frame for the walk off victory. This three game set will conclude tonight in Bologna with a start time schedule for 9 pm. 

   

In Padova it was the visiting Rimini Pirates that got past Tommasin Padova by the final of 9 to 5. Picking up the win for Rimini was a very strong Victor Moreno with his 3 innings of nearly perfect work out of the pen (only one hit allowed). Padova did take an advantage in the runs column in this one into the top of the 7th, however it was Bertagnon that was able to put his club in front for good with one swing of the bat, as he got to Meschini for a three run shot that flew over the right field fence, it was Rimini’s second long ball in the game as Mazzanti connected for a two run shot in the top of the third off of Enrico Crepaldi. Rimini banged out 15 hits in this one to Padova’s 5, with a total of five different names in the Pirates lineup recording multi hit performance. This three game set will come to a conclusion tonight in Rimini with a start time of 9 pm local time.
