T&A San Marino and UnipolSai Bologna both take home wins

T&A San Marino slipped past the Rimini Pirates in game one of their three game set on Thursday evening in San Marino by the final of 2 to 1

T&A San Marino slipped past the Rimini Pirates in game one of their three game set on Thursday evening in San Marino by the final of 2 to 1. Both of San Marino’s runs game in the fourth inning off of Candelario on a two run  double to left off the bat of Mazzuca that plated both Duran and Vasquez. Rimini was able to pull to within a run in the top of the 7th after Mazzanti led off the frame with a double to left, who then moved to third on a ground out off the bat of Zileri, and finally came around to score on an RBI ground out of the bat of Macaluso, who was called out on a controversial call at first to say the least. Picking up the win in this one was Rodriguez with his 7 innings of solid work on the bump, while it was the veteran, Cubillan, who came on for the save in the 9th. This two game set will continue tonight in Rimini at 9:00 pm local time.

     

UnipolSai Bologna had very little issue disposing of Tommasin Padova on Thursday night in Padova, with the final going by the score of 10-0. The game was a tight one through the first 6 innings before Bologna offense exploded for 8 runs between the 7th and 8th (4 runs in each frame). Picking up the win for Bologna with 7 innings of solid ball was Marquis Fleming, while one Padova’s side of the ball it was Carlos Quevedo who suffered the loss after giving up 6 runs (4 earned) in his 7 inning outing. At the plate for Bologna it was Infante and Suarez that impressed the most with their identical 3 for 5, 1 run scored and 2 RBI performances, while Grimaudo also had a very impressive evening, going 2 for 3 with a homer, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI’s. This three game set will continue tonight in Bologna with a start time set for 9:00 pm local time.
