Team Italy offensive frenzy fuels 16-1 rout over Aussie’s NSW Blue Sox during Prague Baseball Week

Team Italy U18 manager John Cortese could have not been happier about the way his Juniors squad performed with the help of four additional U23 players on day three of the five-day Prague Baseball Week competition when the Azzurri crushed Australia’s NSW Blue Sox 16-1 on June 28, 2018. Team Italy starting pitcher Mattia Aldegheri dominated the Aussies on the mound during his five innings of work. The Azzurri offensive frenzy was fueled by outstanding hitting performances from Daniele Di Monte (3-for-5, 3 RBI), Alex Serdà (3-for-4, 2 RBI), and Riccardo Bertossi (3-for-5, 1 RBI).

Second in Group A behind host Czech Republic (3-0), Team Italy (1-2) advances to the playoffs and faces the winner of the Russia and 3n2 International Stars game on June 29 at 11 am (EDT). The playoffs continue through June 30. Prague Baseball Week is the final tune up for Team Italy in preparation for the U18 European Championship, which takes place in Grosseto from July 9-15, 2018.
