One of three European countries represented in the 2021 WBSC U18 Women's Softball World Cup, Team Italy will be joined by Kingdom of the Netherlands and Czech Republic in the 16-nation international youth competition which takes place at the Villa Maria del Triunfo Complex in Lima, Peru from March 27-April 4, 2021.

USA, Japan, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and host Peru represent the Americas, while Japan, Chinese Taipei, and China make up the Asia conglomerate. Oceania representatives Australia and New Zealand as well as African powerhouse South Africa are countries on the improve. Philippines and Colombia gained access to the world-class softball event as the wild card teams.

The strategic decision to replace the U19 Women’s Softball World Championship after 13 editions with the U18 Women's Softball World Cup was made by the WBSC Executive Board in order to boost the Softball World Cup brand and elevate the game's popularity among youth. Despite it being the first time a WBSC Women's Softball World Cup is being held in Latin America, Lima's Villa María del Triunfo Sports Complex was the venue for the 2019 Pan American Games softball competition.

Due to the one-year postponement of the tournament, all players who would have been eligible to participate in the 2020 WBSC global tournament will be able to play in next year's World Cup. Forza #Italia!
