This evening in Bologna the Italian Baseball League will return to action with a match that will feature the home UnipolSai Bologna and the Rimini Pirates for game one of a three game series, which can be caught live on RaiSport 2 in Italy. The game is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 pm local time.

UnipolSai Bologna will be hitting the field for the first time since they last played on the 15th (after a week pause for the EU Champions Cup tournament from the 16th to the 22nd) against Lino’s Coffee Parma when they completed a three game sweep. Bologna will be coming into the weekend almost at full strength, missing from the lineup will be Barbaresi and Dobboletta. Looking to get the ball tonight is one of the leagues most dominant pitchers, Williamson. On Thursday when the series shifts to Rimini it should be Panerati getting the start, while back on their home turf on Saturday it will be Baez on the bump.

On the other side of the diamond, Rimini will be limping into the weekend a little shorthanded, missing Gomez, Patrone, and Chiarini. The team is without a doubt in high sprits after they were able to take the Brno EU Champions Cup tournament last week, earning the right to move onto a best of three finals series against their archrival, T&A San Marino, later this summer. Back in the lineup this weekend as the DH will be the power hitting Peppe Mazzanti. Oscar Salazar will also be rejoining the club, look for him to man the third base bag or leftfield. Getting the ball this evening in Bologna should be the clubs ace, Ekstrom, while the other two starters for games two and three should be Corradini and Enrique Gonzalez.
