With Bologna assured for first, Rimini, San Marino, and Nettuno battle for playoff seeding

The final weekend of the Italian Baseball League brings a little less drama than might have been expected

The final weekend of the Italian Baseball League brings a little less drama than might have been expected.  Bologna's dominant three game sweep of Nettuno, and defending champion Rimini losing three times at the hands of Parma, while San Marino was idle broke up the log jam at the top of the standings, and clinched first place for the Bolognesi.

Nettuno fell two games behind Rimini and San Marino as they take on a Padova team playing only for pride. Rimini faces first place Bologna in the series many expected to be a season ending battle for first place, but four games behind instead it will be Rimini trying to take advantage of Bologna's lack of urgency to secure second place.  Rimini holds the tie breaker with both Nettuno and San Marino, as San Marino battles the suddenly dangerous Parma, focused on a strong finish to the season before taking on the Coppa Italia.
